Universal beams curving

Universal beams have a longer thinner web and shorter flanges, unlike universal columns which have equal dimensions. When it comes to structural beam, we are one of the biggest providers in Australia. In structural beam bending, we can bend up to 360UB44 the hard way (x-x axis).

With our extensive experience and years of past projects to use as reference, we can advise you on what can and can't be achieved in beam bending and what, if any, shrinkage or deformation might occur and offer cost and time-saving suggestions.

Advanced Metal Curving have the ability to curve universal beams – either 'on edge' or 'monorail'. We can curve universal beams from 100 x 45mm all the way up to 410UB.

Please contact us to confirm capability with your application.

Please note:

  • Material size: This list is a guideline based on MILD Steel. We curve any and all sizes and thicknesses in between. If your project requires a different material thickness or type such as aluminium, please contact us with the details.

  • Orientation: Refers to the direction of the curve for members of unequal size, such as RHS or Angle. These can be rolled multiple ways. Please refer to the images above to specify the orientation.

  • Minimum inside radius: Refers to the tightest radius possible, measured to the inside of a continuous curve. Altering material type, thickness, or the addition of straight legs, tangents or multiple radii will affect the minimum radius.

  • Minimum green required per length: Green is the term used to describe the material (wastage) required on either end for the machine to take hold. This material remains straight and needs to be removed after rolling i.e. 500mm green per length = 250mm green each end. The remaining length will be usable curve. How much green depends on the section size, orientation and machine type.

  • Material supply: AMC can supply or customer free issue.

  • Transport notes: AMC have an overhead crane and forklift on site to handle loading / unloading of over-sized semi-trailers. Dimensions and weight can be supplied to assist you to organise freight.
